Custom cut from ribbed Luftwaffe pattern camo with bullion insignia $180.  Also available with gold general officer piping.

The XI Air Corps was station in southern France as the build up for Operation Hercules proceeded.  A number of official uniform changes were made to produced a tropical uniform to prepare the FJ for another battle on a desert Mediterranean island.confirmed. One of these was the Tropenschirmmütz otherwise known as the Hermann Meyer. For LW personnel soon to be garrisoning a tropical may well have looked for a smarter option.  A small French shop furnished these samples in "crusher" soft style for private purchase.  No photographic evidence supports the use of these caps.
