Sharing a northern boarder with the Reds did not bode well. As the Germans seemed to
be the only European power that was ready to stand up to the Russians, many felt this was
the way to go. The threat of Communist expansion was not something started after
World War II (which became the cold war for nearly 50 years) Western Europeans fought
a stand up, hot war to keep their cultures free. Today we can see what became of the
workers' revolution and where the 50 years of "progress" left Eastern Europe.
